Wear your poppy with pride

Uncategorized

Poppies are a beautiful flower which every year is worn by thousands of people in support of those men and women who fight in wars for the freedom of others. While many others have knitted in support of these brave people. Some return home while sadly many don’t!

Every year the Royal British Legion sell millions of poppies to raise funds to help support not only the service men and women but their families.

Last year in my knitting group we decided to knit poppies to sell to give not only our time but all money raised to support this charity. As it was a great success we are busy knitting and selling again.

Alexandra Palace Knitting and stitch show my first time?

Uncategorized

This week has been so exciting I decided to take my Knitting with Wire Workshops to Alexandra Palace where we would knit cocktail rings.

The workshop ran twice on the Wednesday and Friday which gave me a real excuse to visit the show itself twice. As usual there is so much to see and take in whether your a knitter or love any other hand craft.  There are big companies and small and I just and to share a couple of new finds. Merchant and Mills had a very usual stall of old type market stalls which were filled with all kinds of lovely cotton/linen, patterns to make dresses etc.

Also back to my real love is wool and especially from companies where the process is straight from field with sheep, fleeces sent off to Yorkshire to be spun. Home farm based Wensley dales is well worth a look.

Back to my workshops which were a great joy to meet new people who want to have a go at my crazy ideas of not only knitting with wire but to make it into statement pieces to go off and wear?????October 7th 2015 Ally Pally 002
